This page answers common questions about ByTheWeb AI, ByTheWeb GEO, AI credits, SEO plugin compatibility, AI-generated content, structured data, LLM files, account connections, and WordPress integration.

For detailed step-by-step instructions, follow the links to the relevant Help Center guides.

Are ByTheWeb AI and ByTheWeb GEO Free to Download?

Yes.

Both plugins can be downloaded and installed from WordPress.org:

Download ByTheWeb AI

Download ByTheWeb GEO

Many local features are available without purchasing AI credits.

ByTheWeb Cloud AI generation features require a connected API Key and use AI credits.

For a complete breakdown, see:

Free vs. Credits

What Is the Difference Between ByTheWeb AI and ByTheWeb GEO?

They are two separate WordPress plugins with different roles.

ByTheWeb GEO provides the local SEO, GEO, AI Readiness, structured data, LLM files, sitemap, entity, and content-analysis framework.
ByTheWeb AI provides AI Audit, AI-assisted FAQ generation, Media Optimization, and supported Fix with AI workflows.

They can be installed separately or used together.

See:

ByTheWeb AI vs ByTheWeb GEO

Do I Need a ByTheWeb Account?

Not for all features.

Several features work locally without a ByTheWeb account or API Key.

For example, you can use supported manual functionality such as:

  • ByTheWeb GEO analysis and settings
  • Manual AI Summary
  • Manual Short Answer
  • Manual FAQ management
  • Media metadata editing
  • llms.txt and llms-full.txt
  • Supported Schema configuration

A connected API Key is required for ByTheWeb Cloud AI generation features.

For setup instructions, see:

Connect API Key

Can I Run the AI Audit Without an API Key?

Yes.

The AI Audit can be launched without connecting a ByTheWeb API Key.

In the current ByTheWeb AI workflow:

  • ChatGPT is available without an API connection
  • Gemini is available without an API connection
  • Perplexity requires a connected ByTheWeb account
  • Claude requires a connected ByTheWeb account

The complete report opens in the ByTheWeb Website Scanner for the current website domain.

Do I Need ByTheWeb If I Already Use an SEO Plugin?

You can use ByTheWeb GEO alongside the currently supported external SEO plugins:

  • Yoast SEO
  • Rank Math SEO

When either supported external SEO plugin is active, ByTheWeb GEO leaves overlapping traditional SEO functionality and core Schema ownership to that plugin while continuing to provide its supported GEO functionality.

This includes features such as:

  • GEO Score and AI Readiness
  • Short Answer
  • AI Summary
  • FAQ
  • llms.txt and llms-full.txt
  • Supported Schema enrichment
  • SEO & GEO Dashboard

ByTheWeb GEO can also provide its own supported traditional SEO functionality when neither Yoast SEO nor Rank Math SEO is active.

Can ByTheWeb GEO Replace My Existing SEO Plugin?

It can provide its own supported traditional SEO functionality when no supported external SEO plugin is active.

This includes features such as:

  • SEO Title
  • Meta Description
  • Title and Description Templates
  • Canonical URL
  • Index / Noindex controls
  • Open Graph image
  • XML Sitemap
  • Robots.txt AI Policy Manager

If Yoast SEO or Rank Math SEO is active, ByTheWeb GEO does not attempt to take over the overlapping functionality.

For more information, see:

Requirements & Compatibility

What Happens If I Use Yoast SEO?

ByTheWeb GEO detects Yoast SEO as a supported external SEO provider.

When Yoast is active, ByTheWeb GEO avoids competing output for overlapping traditional SEO and core Schema functionality.

ByTheWeb GEO continues to provide its supported GEO layer, including:

  • GEO analysis
  • Short Answer
  • AI Summary
  • FAQ functionality
  • LLM files
  • Supported structured-data enrichment

Supported ByTheWeb GEO data can also enrich the existing Yoast Schema graph instead of creating competing core entities.

What Happens If I Use Rank Math SEO?

The same provider-aware approach applies to Rank Math SEO.

When Rank Math is active, ByTheWeb GEO leaves overlapping traditional SEO and core Schema ownership to Rank Math while continuing to provide its supported GEO functionality and Schema enrichment.

ByTheWeb GEO does not need to replace Rank Math in order to provide its GEO features.

What If Yoast SEO and Rank Math SEO Are Both Active?

ByTheWeb currently uses the following supported SEO-provider priority:

  1. Yoast SEO
  2. Rank Math SEO
  3. ByTheWeb GEO
  4. No supported SEO provider

If both Yoast and Rank Math are active, ByTheWeb uses Yoast as the selected supported SEO provider.

Does ByTheWeb AI Work with Yoast SEO and Rank Math SEO?

Yes, through the broader ByTheWeb workflow.

ByTheWeb AI’s current core features do not generate complete articles or synchronize generated article metadata with Yoast SEO or Rank Math SEO.

When ByTheWeb GEO is installed, it detects supported external SEO providers such as Yoast SEO and Rank Math SEO and adjusts overlapping SEO controls and output accordingly.

What Is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a Markdown resource generated by ByTheWeb GEO at the root of the website.

It provides a structured version of selected public, indexable website content.

Depending on the available content, it can include information such as:

  • Short Answers
  • AI Summaries
  • Fallback excerpts
  • Taxonomy descriptions
  • Links to the original content

You can also configure a custom Introduction and choose which supported post types and taxonomies are included.

For full details, see:

llms.txt & llms-full.txt

What Is llms-full.txt?

llms-full.txt is an optional fuller Markdown version of the selected public and indexable content.

It can include:

  • Cleaned page or post content
  • Short Answer
  • AI Summary
  • Original URL
  • Content type
  • Last-modified information

ByTheWeb GEO provides separate settings and character limits for llms.txt and llms-full.txt.

Does llms.txt Include Every Page on My Website?

Not necessarily.

ByTheWeb GEO lets you select supported post types and taxonomies for the LLM files.

The generator also applies its eligibility and indexability rules.

Individual supported content can also be excluded from the LLM files without necessarily changing its normal search-engine indexing status.

Does ByTheWeb Generate JSON-LD Schema?

Yes.

Depending on the enabled features and available data, ByTheWeb supports structured data including:

  • FAQPage
  • Organization
  • Person
  • LocalBusiness
  • Service
  • ContactPoint
  • Article / BlogPosting
  • Page Type information
  • BreadcrumbList
  • sameAs entity references

The exact output depends on your configuration and active SEO provider.

For an overview, see:

Entity & Schema Overview

Can I Disable Schema Features?

ByTheWeb GEO provides configuration controls for its supported Schema features.

The exact control depends on the Schema type.

For example, the Entity & Schema settings include controls for supported Primary Entity, LocalBusiness, Service, Customer Support Contact, and Article Schema functionality, while Breadcrumb functionality has its own configuration.

FAQ data is managed through the supported FAQ workflow.

When Yoast SEO or Rank Math SEO is active, ByTheWeb GEO also changes how its Schema is integrated so that the supported external provider keeps ownership of the core Schema graph.

How Does the FAQ Generator Output Structured Data?

Yes, when ByTheWeb AI is handling the FAQ Schema without ByTheWeb GEO.

ByTheWeb AI stores the supported FAQ data and, when ByTheWeb GEO is not active, can output standalone FAQPage JSON-LD for enabled content types.

Starting with ByTheWeb GEO 1.3.2, when ByTheWeb GEO is active, it handles the shared FAQ structured-data output instead. FAQ Questions are normally incorporated into the applicable page Schema through hasPart, while FAQPage with mainEntity is used when FAQPage is explicitly selected as the Page Type.

FAQs can also be displayed visibly using the supported shortcode or Elementor FAQ widget.

See:

FAQ Schema & AI FAQ Generator

Can I Add FAQs Without Using AI Credits?

Yes.

FAQ questions and answers can be added and edited manually.

AI credits are used when you specifically request AI-generated FAQ content.

Manual FAQ management does not require AI generation.

What Data Is Sent When I Use Fix with AI?

A Fix with AI request is sent only when an authorized user actively selects and confirms an AI-generation action.

For supported ByTheWeb GEO Fix with AI actions, the current plugin can send:

  • Up to 6,000 characters of cleaned text from the selected post or page
  • The fields requested for generation
  • The target keyword or entity where applicable
  • Existing values and questions required for the generation
  • WordPress site language
  • API Key and website domain for authentication

The API Key is transmitted in the request headers rather than being added to the post content.

For the current service and data terms, see:

Privacy Policy

and:

Terms of Service

What Data Is Sent by Other ByTheWeb AI Features?

The information sent depends on the AI action being requested.

For example:

FAQ generation sends the relevant page or post content required to generate the Q&A.

Image metadata analysis sends the URL of the image being analyzed.

Authenticated Cloud requests also include the connected API Key and website domain for verification.

Is My API Key Specific to One Domain?

Yes.

The ByTheWeb API Key is associated with its registered website domain.

When ByTheWeb AI verifies a key, it also verifies the current WordPress website domain.

A key that does not match the current domain is rejected.

A different domain is a separate ByTheWeb domain and requires its own registration, API Key, and package.

See:

Changing / Removing a Connected Domain

Can I Share My Credits Between Different Domains?

No.

Subscriptions, API Keys, and credit balances are associated with individual registered domains.

Credits assigned to one domain are not a shared balance for unrelated domains.

What Uses AI Credits?

AI credits are used for supported Cloud AI-assisted actions.

Examples include:

  • AI FAQ Generation
  • Short Answer generation
  • AI Summary generation
  • Supported SEO metadata generation
  • Image Metadata Generation
  • Fix with AI

Manual local editing does not use AI credits.

For current costs, see:

Free vs. Credits

Does ByTheWeb Support Custom Post Types?

Supported custom post types can be used by several ByTheWeb features.

For example, ByTheWeb AI allows public post types to be selected for supported FAQ and image functionality.

ByTheWeb GEO also provides configurable post-type and taxonomy support across several of its features.

However, not every ByTheWeb feature automatically applies to every registered custom post type.

Where a content-type selection is available, the selected post types or taxonomies determine where that feature is enabled.

Does ByTheWeb Support Taxonomies?

ByTheWeb GEO includes supported taxonomy functionality.

Depending on the feature and configuration, taxonomy support can include:

  • Short Answer
  • AI Summary
  • FAQ
  • SEO metadata when ByTheWeb GEO is the SEO provider
  • Indexability controls
  • llms.txt and llms-full.txt
  • XML Sitemap inclusion

Should I Review AI-Generated Content?

Yes.

AI-generated output should be reviewed before use or publication.

The ByTheWeb Terms place responsibility on the user to review generated content for accuracy, suitability, compliance, and other publication requirements.

Will ByTheWeb Slow Down My Website?

The heavier AI processing is performed through external ByTheWeb services rather than running the AI models directly on the WordPress server.

Normal plugin interfaces, stored metadata, analysis logic, and frontend output remain part of the WordPress installation.

As with any WordPress plugin, actual performance can also depend on the website’s hosting environment, WordPress configuration, theme, and other plugins.

Can Subscribers or Store Customers Use My AI Credits?

ByTheWeb uses WordPress capability checks to restrict access to its administration and AI actions.

The current ByTheWeb GEO access model explicitly prevents Subscribers, store Customers, and guests from accessing its dashboard or triggering its optimization actions.

In ByTheWeb AI, content-generation functionality requires the appropriate WordPress editing capabilities.

The API Connection & Credits area is restricted to users with the manage_options capability.

For a detailed breakdown of roles and capabilities, see:

User Access Control & Permissions

Can Authors, Editors or Administrators Use ByTheWeb Features?

Access depends on the WordPress capability required by the specific feature.

For example, ByTheWeb GEO currently uses:

  • edit_posts for supported post-level optimization
  • edit_others_posts for the main GEO Dashboard and site-wide settings
  • manage_categories for supported taxonomy editing

ByTheWeb AI also separates content-editing functionality from administrator-only API Key and credit management.

See:

User Access Control & Permissions

Does ByTheWeb Support Elementor?

ByTheWeb includes dedicated Elementor integrations for specific features.

ByTheWeb GEO provides Elementor widgets for:

  • AI Summary
  • AI Short Answer
  • Breadcrumbs

ByTheWeb AI provides an Elementor FAQ widget for the shared FAQ workflow.

For more information, see:

GEO Shortcodes & Elementor Widgets

and:

FAQ Shortcode & Elementor Widget

Can I Use ByTheWeb Data with Dynamic-Data Tools or Other Page Builders?

Several ByTheWeb values are stored as normal WordPress post metadata.

The current post meta keys include:

FAQ Schema
_btwai_faq_schema

AI Summary
bytheweb_geo_ai_summary

Short Answer
bytheweb_geo_short_answer

A third-party tool that supports reading WordPress custom fields may be able to use these stored values.

However, ByTheWeb does not claim universal compatibility with every page builder or dynamic-data plugin.

The dedicated page-builder integrations currently provided by ByTheWeb are the Elementor widgets described above.

What Happens to My Content If My AI Credits Run Out?

Running out of AI credits does not delete content already stored in WordPress.

It affects the ability to perform Cloud AI actions that require available credits.

Your locally stored content and settings remain on the website.

What Happens If My Trial or Subscription Ends?

Ending a trial or subscription does not automatically delete the content already stored in WordPress.

Locally stored ByTheWeb data remains in the WordPress database.

As long as the relevant plugin remains active, its supported local functionality can continue to use and display that stored information.

Cloud AI functionality that requires an active eligible connection may no longer be available.

What Happens If I Delete the Domain from My ByTheWeb Account?

Permanent Cloud-domain deletion does not automatically delete content that is already stored inside your WordPress website.

However, permanently deleting the registered domain forfeits the unused credits associated with that domain, including unused Extra Credits.

The WordPress website and the ByTheWeb Cloud account record are separate.

What Happens If I Deactivate ByTheWeb AI or ByTheWeb GEO?

Plugin deactivation does not by itself delete the data already stored by that plugin.

However, functionality that depends on the plugin to register, render, or dynamically output the data may stop appearing while the relevant plugin is inactive.

This can include supported output such as:

  • AI Summary
  • Short Answer
  • FAQ display
  • FAQ / Q&A structured data
  • Other Schema output
  • Other plugin-rendered frontend elements

The stored data itself is not automatically removed simply because the plugin is deactivated.

Will AI Summary, Short Answer or FAQ Still Appear If the Plugin Is Deactivated?

The stored values can remain in WordPress, but their frontend display can depend on the relevant plugin being active.

For example, a shortcode or dynamically injected Schema requires the plugin that registers that output.

If that plugin is inactive, the underlying data may still exist in the database while the corresponding frontend output no longer appears.

Does Disconnecting My API Key Remove Existing Schema or Content?

No.

Disconnecting the API Key removes the authenticated ByTheWeb Cloud connection from that WordPress installation.

It does not automatically delete locally stored content.

Existing dynamically generated output can continue while the relevant plugin remains active and has the required stored data.

Disconnecting the API Key is also not the same as cancelling a subscription or permanently deleting a registered domain.

Where Can I See My Current Credits and Plan?

Open:

ByTheWeb AI > API Connection & Credits

The connected domain summary can display information such as:

  • Active Plan
  • Billing period
  • Credit Balance
  • Monthly allowance
  • Next Credit Reset
  • Extra Credits

For billing information, see:

Plans, Billing & Credit Resets

Do Monthly Credits Roll Over?

No.

Unused normal monthly subscription credits do not roll over into the next monthly credit period.

Extra Credits are maintained separately and follow their own rules.

See:

Extra Credits
