You can write both fields manually for free or use ByTheWeb AI to generate them when AI functionality is connected.

The saved information can be used by ByTheWeb GEO in its GEO analysis, structured-data workflow, llms.txt files, Shortcodes, and Elementor Widgets.

What Is the Short Answer?

The Short Answer (The Bottom Line) is a short, direct statement that answers the main purpose or central question of the page.

It is designed to express the essential answer without requiring the reader to work through the entire page first.

For example, if a page explains how a service works, the Short Answer should state the main answer directly rather than repeat the introduction.

What Is the AI Summary?

The AI Summary (Key Facts) is a set of concise facts that summarize the most important information on the page.

Unlike the Short Answer, which is primarily one direct response, the AI Summary is designed as multiple separate facts.

For best compatibility with the ByTheWeb display tools, place each fact on its own line.

For example:

• Third important fact

When displayed through the ByTheWeb Summary Shortcode or Elementor Widget, each non-empty line can be rendered as a separate list item.

What Is the Difference Between Short Answer and AI Summary?

The two fields serve different purposes.

Yes.

Manual entry is part of ByTheWeb GEO and does not use AI credits.

• Update it later

A ByTheWeb AI account or API Key is not required for manual editing.

Does Saving These Fields Use AI Credits?

No.

Saving manually entered Short Answer or AI Summary values is local WordPress functionality.

AI credits are used only if you intentionally request AI generation through ByTheWeb AI.

How Does Short Answer Affect the GEO Score?

The current ByTheWeb GEO scoring system assigns:

20 points

when a Short Answer is present.

If the field is empty, those 20 points are not awarded.

How Does AI Summary Affect the GEO Score?

The current ByTheWeb GEO scoring system assigns:

30 points

when an AI Summary is present.

If the field is empty, those 30 points are not awarded.

The Dashboard evaluates the existence of the saved field as part of its current GEO Score.

Does ByTheWeb Judge the Quality of the Summary for These Points?

The current GEO scoring check for these two components primarily checks whether the corresponding saved value exists.

The presence of an AI Summary provides its current Summary points, and the presence of a Short Answer provides its current Short Answer points.

A higher ByTheWeb score therefore should not be interpreted as an independent verification that every statement in the text is accurate or ideal.

You should still review the content itself.

Can I Use Short Answer and AI Summary with Yoast SEO?

Yes.

Short Answer and AI Summary are ByTheWeb GEO fields and remain available when Yoast SEO is active.

Yoast continues to manage its overlapping traditional SEO functionality, while ByTheWeb GEO retains its dedicated GEO data and provider-aware Schema integration.

You do not need to move these fields into Yoast.

Can I Use Them with Rank Math SEO?

Yes.

The same provider-aware principle applies when Rank Math SEO is active.

Rank Math remains responsible for its supported traditional SEO and core Schema output.

ByTheWeb GEO retains the Short Answer and AI Summary and can enrich the applicable Rank Math Schema graph without creating a competing ByTheWeb core graph.

Where Are the Values Stored?

For Posts, Pages, and supported Custom Post Types, the values are stored as WordPress post metadata.

The current meta keys are:

These values remain stored locally with the WordPress content.

Are Taxonomies Supported?

Yes.

ByTheWeb GEO can also store Short Answer and AI Summary data for supported taxonomy terms.

This can include enabled:

• Tags
• Supported Custom Taxonomies

For taxonomy terms, the same field names are stored as WordPress term metadata.

Where Do I Edit the Fields for a Taxonomy?

Open the edit screen for a supported taxonomy term.

Inside the ByTheWeb GEO:

Save the taxonomy term using the normal WordPress Update action.

Can I Generate a Short Answer with AI?

Yes, when ByTheWeb AI is installed, connected, and available for AI generation.

ByTheWeb GEO’s supported AI-assisted workflow can generate a Short Answer based on the current content.

The current standalone Short Answer AI action uses:

The value is managed centrally and can change without requiring this Help Center article to be updated manually.

Can I Generate an AI Summary with AI?

Yes.

When ByTheWeb AI is connected, the AI-assisted workflow can generate an AI Summary from the content.

The current standalone AI Summary action uses:

You can review the generated value and edit it before keeping the final content.

Are Short Answer and AI Summary Charged Separately?

When they are requested as individual supported AI actions, Short Answer and AI Summary have their own configured credit costs.

If you use Fix with AI and select multiple fields, the applicable AI actions and their costs are combined according to the fields you request.

Can I Generate Them Without ByTheWeb AI?

Not automatically through the ByTheWeb Cloud AI workflow.

However, ByTheWeb AI is not required to use the fields themselves.

You can always write or edit the Short Answer and AI Summary manually in ByTheWeb GEO without using AI credits.

Are the Fields Automatically Visible on the Page?

No.

Saving Short Answer and AI Summary stores the data and makes it available to the applicable ByTheWeb GEO outputs.

It does not automatically insert a visible Short Answer or Summary block into your page content.

If you want visitors to see these values on the frontend, you can use:

• ByTheWeb GEO Elementor Widgets

This lets you decide where, or whether, the information should appear visibly in the page layout.

Does the Content Still Have GEO Output If I Do Not Display It Visually?

The saved fields are not limited to their visible frontend widgets.

Depending on the current content type, configuration, and active SEO provider, ByTheWeb GEO can use the stored values in applicable outputs such as:

• Schema enrichment
• GEO metadata
• llms.txt
• llms-full.txt

The Shortcode or Elementor Widget is specifically for making the content visible as part of the rendered page.

Important Note About Shortcodes in This Guide

Shortcodes in this guide are displayed with spaces inside the brackets to prevent them from running on this Help Center page. When using a shortcode on your own website, remove those spaces.

Display the AI Summary with a Shortcode

The AI Summary Shortcode is displayed in this guide as:

The Shortcode reads the AI Summary saved for the current frontend item.

If no AI Summary exists, it returns no visible summary output.

Display the Short Answer with a Shortcode

The Short Answer Shortcode is displayed in this guide as:

[ btwgeo_ai_abstract ]

The name uses abstract because Short Answer is also used as an abstract in the applicable structured-data workflow.

If no Short Answer exists for the current item, the Shortcode returns no visible Short Answer output.

Add a Title to the AI Summary Shortcode

The AI Summary Shortcode supports an optional:

attribute.

Without a title attribute, the Shortcode can display the stored Short Answer without adding a heading of its own.

How Is the AI Summary Displayed by the Shortcode?

The stored AI Summary is split by line.

Each non-empty line becomes an item in an unordered list.

The display logic also removes common leading bullet characters such as:

• *
• •

before displaying the fact.

For this reason, the most predictable way to write an AI Summary is to place each fact on a separate line.

How Is the Short Answer Displayed by the Shortcode?

The Short Answer is displayed as text inside its frontend wrapper.

Line breaks stored in the Short Answer are preserved in the visible output.

Can the Shortcodes Work on Taxonomy Pages?

Yes.

When used in an applicable taxonomy frontend context, the Shortcodes can read the Short Answer and AI Summary stored for the currently queried taxonomy term.

They do not provide an attribute for selecting an unrelated post or taxonomy term as the source.

Does Displaying the Shortcodes Use Credits?

No.

The Shortcodes display data already stored locally in WordPress.

Rendering them does not perform a new AI-generation request.

Which Elementor Widgets Are Available?

ByTheWeb GEO includes two dedicated Elementor Widgets for these fields:

What Does the AI Summary Elementor Widget Display?

Can I Style the Short Answer Widget?

Yes.

The current Widget provides Elementor controls for the title and content, including:

It does not modify the underlying Short Answer stored by ByTheWeb GEO.

What Happens in Elementor If the Field Is Empty?

When editing with Elementor, the ByTheWeb GEO Widgets can display a missing-content message so you can identify that the corresponding field has not been filled.

For example:

Missing Content – AI Summary is empty.

or:

Missing Content – Short Answer is empty.

That editor message is not used as the real frontend content.

If the stored field is empty, the public Widget does not invent a replacement summary or answer.

Shortcode or Elementor Widget?

Use the Shortcode when you want a lightweight way to place the saved field in:

• WordPress content
• A Shortcode-compatible template
• A compatible page builder or content area

Use the Elementor Widget when you are designing with Elementor and want visual controls for the title, typography, spacing, and Summary layout.

Both methods use the same saved ByTheWeb GEO values.

Does Visible Display Change the Saved Value?

No.

The Shortcodes and Elementor Widgets read the stored Short Answer or AI Summary.

Changing how the Widget is styled or changing a display title does not rewrite the underlying GEO field.

To change the actual content, edit the Short Answer or AI Summary itself.

How Is the Short Answer Used in Schema?

ByTheWeb GEO uses the saved Short Answer as the Schema.org:

abstract

property in applicable Schema output.

For example, when ByTheWeb GEO controls the relevant Schema graph, the Short Answer can enrich the applicable WebPage node.

For supported Article output, it can also be used as the Article abstract.

When Yoast SEO or Rank Math SEO owns the core Schema graph, ByTheWeb GEO uses provider-aware enrichment instead of creating a competing core Schema graph.

How Is the AI Summary Used in Schema?

The AI Summary is handled separately from the Short Answer.

For supported Article Schema, ByTheWeb GEO can use the AI Summary as Article description information within its provider-aware Schema workflow.

The exact integration depends on the active Schema provider.

ByTheWeb GEO preserves the external provider’s core graph and enriches it according to the integration rules rather than replacing the entire provider output.

Does ByTheWeb GEO Add an AI Summary Meta Tag?

Yes.

For supported GEO content with an AI Summary, ByTheWeb GEO outputs an:

ai-summary

meta value in the page head.

The stored Summary is cleaned into a single text value for that meta output.

This is separate from visibly displaying the Summary with a Shortcode or Elementor Widget.

Are the Fields Used in llms.txt?

Yes, when the applicable content is included and indexable in the ByTheWeb GEO LLM file workflow.

In llms.txt, ByTheWeb GEO can include the stored Short Answer and AI Summary alongside the content URL and title.

The Short Answer is formatted as a concise blockquote-style value in the generated Markdown, while the AI Summary is included as summary text.

Are They Used in llms-full.txt?

Yes.

For included content, llms-full.txt can provide dedicated:

sections before the fuller page content.

The same applies to supported taxonomy terms when those taxonomies are included in the LLM configuration.

Does Adding These Fields Guarantee AI Visibility?

No.

Short Answer and AI Summary provide additional structured, explicit information that ByTheWeb GEO can use in its supported outputs.

They do not guarantee:

• Inclusion in an AI answer
• A citation from an AI engine
• Search rankings
• Indexing
• Traffic
• AI-engine recognition

Third-party search and AI systems decide independently how they crawl, process, rank, cite, and use web content.

Can I Change the Fields After Publishing?

Yes.

They remain editable WordPress metadata.

You can update either field at any time and save the WordPress content again.

The applicable ByTheWeb GEO outputs will then use the currently saved values.

What Happens If My AI Credits Run Out?

Existing Short Answer and AI Summary values remain stored locally in WordPress.

You can continue editing them manually without AI credits.

Insufficient credits only prevent applicable new paid AI-generation actions when there are not enough credits to perform them.

What Happens If My Subscription Ends?

A trial or subscription ending does not automatically delete Short Answer or AI Summary values that have already been saved locally.

Manual editing remains separate from Cloud AI generation.

New AI-assisted generation requires the applicable ByTheWeb AI Cloud access and available credits.

What Happens If I Deactivate ByTheWeb GEO?

The saved post or term metadata is not automatically deleted by normal plugin deactivation.

However, outputs provided dynamically by ByTheWeb GEO depend on the plugin being active.

While ByTheWeb GEO is inactive, this can affect functionality such as:

• ByTheWeb GEO Shortcodes
• ByTheWeb GEO Elementor Widgets
• ByTheWeb GEO Schema enrichment

The underlying saved values can remain in the WordPress database.

Can Other WordPress Tools Read These Fields?
